Kayla in Texas writes:“I have a laser printer.
Are there any papers for laser?I see lots of reference to inkjet but no laser papers.
”Great question Kayla, and as you noticed, for every single item that we carry, we offera printing recommendation.
The printing recommendation is based off of printing specs provided by the mill and it’sbased off of our own in-house printing tests that we do on a variety of printers.
Although our printer recommendations are meant to be helpful, we still strongly urge youto order a sample and test the paper in your printer at home and I’ll talk more aboutlater.
Now you said you noticed lots of recommendations for inkjet but none for laser.
But actually, a great percentage of our papers are recommended for laser printing.
Some of the brands include Stardream, Aspire Petallics, LCI, Old World, Pop-Tone, GmundColors, Cambric Linen, Contact Colors, Glama, PC100.
Within a brand of paper, if you were to browse through the different paper weights, you mightsee differences in our recommendations.
For example, a lighter text weight sheet like this might be recommended for laser and inkjet, but its heavier cover counterpart might only be rated for inkjet.
The reason for that is that we tested the paper in a laser printer and achieved less-than-desirableresults like roller marks or a paper jam.
Now I want to get back to testing samples in your specific printer, and I want to bevery clear about this.
Even with the best recommendations that we have from the mills; even with our best recommendationsafter our in-house printing tests, we cannot guarantee that a certain sheet of paper isgoing to print perfectly in your printer.
You’ve got to order a sample and test it in your printer to make absolutely sure thatthe quality meets your standards.
Also, we strongly recommend that you check your printer's specifications on paper weightand only buy paper that falls within the allowable range of those specifications.
Now if you have any general questions about what papers might be more suitable for inkjetprinting versus laser printing, definitely get in touch with us.
If you have specific questions about a certain paper that you’re eyeing and you’d likeour best recommendation on whether that will work in your printer, get in touch with usas well.
We’d love to be able to help you.
And if you have other questions, well, we love answering them on video, so send themin.
