about a month ago we bought a smoker and we love it.
We use it all the time andwe've come up with a rib recipe that is so good and I'm gonna share with youtoday.
So the ribs we use are from Costco there about three pounds each and wehave two racks of ribs here.
We use apple wood chips which is absolutely deliciouswith the pork ribs that were using and you can get this brand of apple woodchips from Amazon and its super good i'll leave a link to it down in thedescription if you're interested and when it comes to using the wood chipssome people when we were kind of reading about what's bestsome people recommend using wet wood chips some recommend using dry woodchips we like to use both half-and-halfdry wood chips burn faster the wet ones burn longer and so we kinda like havingthe best of both worldskeeping it consistent as long as we can so recommend doing that and this is oursmoker its a Masterbuilt 40 inch it's from Amazon and so far it's beenfantastic I'll leave a link to it down in the description below incase yourinterest said and I'm just gonna let you in on one more little tip before we getstartedthat'll make your clean up so much easier so gonna open it up and show youherethere's a watered tin down here and we filled up to the to the fill line it'sabout quarter halfway full but there's a fill line so you'll know how much waterto put in it and then to make your cleanup easier right above that we linedthe metal sheet with foil so that catches a lot of the drip and doesn'tleave a whole lot of mess insider smoker just remove that foil and a cleans upsuper easy same thing on the bottom we line the metal sheet with foil there too andwhen you're preheating this for the ribs you're gonna wanna heat it to about 235degrees and altogether this this recipe will take about four hours tocook so let's get started.
So we are going to prepare the meat before we putin the smoker and like I said this whole thing takes about four hours so we'regonna put the meat in the smoker for two hours to cook and then we're going toremove the meat, add the BBQ sauce, wrap it up in foil and then put it back on thesmoker again to cook for two more hours and then after that you can eat yourribs or if you want you can put the Ribs back in the smoker without the foil forabout 30 minutes and it'll caramelize the BBQ sauce on the ribs real nice for youbut the first thing we're going to do is we're gonna rinse the meat off with coldwater.
So you wanna make sure you rinse it off real nice we washed our meat off with cold water and now we're gonna pat it dry and just so you know some ribs come with awith a membrane on the bottom and Costco removes that for you but if you do havethat on the bottom of your ribs you just wanna make sure you get rid of thatbefore you for you cook it and put your seasoning on it and everything so we're justgonna pat our ribs dry so we just got done washing and patting dry or ribs andwe're going to season them little bit we're gonna keep it real simple because we'reputting a homemade BBQ sauce on here which will give it a lot of flavor so we'rejust gonna put some salt and pepper on and I already put the salt on so justadded some pepper and I'm gonna make sure I get both sides and run it into themeat real good you don't want to put too much just enough to give it a bit of flavorok we're gonna put our meat in the smoker nowthat's prepped and ready we're gonna put one rack of ribs on different racksin the smokerok we're gonna put our wood chips in nowbe careful these things are hot so we're gonna put half dry, half wet wood chips like Isaid before.
Yeah hear that sizzling? It's Hot.
Just a couple other things I forgot to mention before, you're going to want to leave this all the wayopen where the smoke comes out so that you don't trap too much moisture in thesmoker while your meat is cooking and also you're gonna need to replace thewood chips every 45 minutes so I will probably replace the chips about two more timesabout two more times before we take it out and put the BBQ sauce on andthen put it back in for two more hoursAlright we've cooked our ribs for two hours and now we're ready to load them up withour delicious homemade BBQ sauce and then put them back in the smoker foranother two hours and after that we're going to take them out get them out of thefoil and then stick them back in a smoker for thirty minutes just to get the BBQsauce nice and carmelized on your, on your ribs for you and then you're doneand you have your homemade delicious baby back ribs.
Alright let's do thisOkay now were gonna take our ribs out of the smoker and unwrap them so that we can get the BBQ sauce caramelized.
It's very drippybarbecue sauceok we'll be back in 30 minutes and they'll be all done.
Okay it's been four and a halfhours but I think it's well worth the wait I wish you guys could smell thesethings I'm so excitedlet's take them outDoes that look delicious or what?.
