I Got A Treadmill Desk Because Sitting Was Killing Me (Treadmill Desk Review)

Hey everyone, Stefan here from projectlifemastery.

com and welcome to my office.

As you guys can tell, right now I'm speaking to you guys from my brand newtreadmill desk that I actually got delivered a few weeks ago.

Many of youguys saw on my social media, on my Snapchat and Instagram, when I first gotthe treadmill desk, and I’ve been using it every day since.

I wanted to waita little while before recording this video and sharing this with you guysbecause I really wanted to make sure that I've tested it out first and thatI've incorporated it into my life.

I can share with you guys the benefits, how it'senhanced my productivity and my business, how it's improved my health, and whether or notit's something that I think is worthwhile for you guys to invest in.

Nowas many of you guys know, I work online.

I've got online businesses, and when you workonline, when you work from home, one of the biggest challenges is that you'resitting a lot.

I'm a pretty fit guy.

I work out every day.

I've donefitness competitions, but what really inspired me to invest in a treadmilldesk was actually a book.

The book is called Get Up.

It's called Get Up!:Why Your Chair is Killing You and What You Should Do About It.

This book, Iforget the author name, but I'll maybe have a link in the video somewhere for it.

The book really inspired me because it was basically this scientist, thisresearcher who had done all this research about how sitting is causing somany health problems.

It really blew me away.

In fact, in the book, the author makesa lot of really bold claims.

One of them is that for every hour that yousit, you're cutting off two hours of your life.

Pretty bold claim.

He also says thatsitting is actually worse for you than smoking, and he has all the research toback it up.

Actually, initially in this book, he shares how when he was doing thisresearch, nobody believed him.

It's just fascinating how somany people were so against it.

Now there's so much research to go and proveand support his theories and his research that now there'sthings like treadmill desks that existor stand-up desks, and there's a lot of different alternatives.

I highlyrecommend that you read the book.

He actually goes into the whole history of the chair, and how the chair and sitting was something that was more introduced in theindustrial revolution as part of our day-to-day life because the industrialrevolution is when we started to leverage machinery.

There’s a lotless physical labor and so people are now sitting a lot more instead ofactually doing a lot of physical labor.

Then when Thomas Edison .

Sorry, not Thom, Henry Ford, with the automobile industry, how that shiftedthings.

Because then all of a sudden, human beings were now sitting fortransportation as opposed to walking and moving to get from A to Z.

How in the 1980s, the whole computer revolution with Apple andMicrosoft and IBM and all that how that even shifted things even further becausenow all of a sudden, people are sitting for their day-to-day jobs, working behindthe computer.

It's just been really fascinating hearing the history and the story ofthat.

One thing that he also says in the book is that how .

We live in the United States and Canada, North America, most of the world.

Obesity is such a huge problem.

In the United States, 70% ofAmericans are now obese.

That's insane.

One of the biggest reasonsfor that is lack of movement because human beings were not made just to sitall day.

Human beings were made to go out, and hunt and gather, and be active, and move.

We live in this lifestyle that we're just not made as human beingsfor.

We're not made to sit down for hours and hours of the day at a job.

We're notmeant to sit down for hours and hours a day watching TV or playing video games.

He even goes how just exercising one hour a day is notenough.

It's not enough.

He also has a lot of research how diabetes is relatedto sitting because one of the worst things that you should do is when you eatfood, one of the worst things that you should do is sit while and afteryou’re eating.

Because when you eat food, what happens is your pancreasreleases insulin, your blood sugar spikes, and what happens is basicallythe glucose goes into the muscles so that you can have immediate source ofenergy.

Then anything excess gets stored as fat.

Just by moving morethroughout the day and especially right after you eat a meal, that blood sugarspike cuts in half, and there’s just so many incredible benefits.

I highlyrecommend read the book, but I'm going to share with you guys a little bit about this treadmilldesk, why I bought this one, what might benefit, what my experience has been.

Idid quite a bit of research, and what I found is that LifeSpan Fitness is one ofthe best brands for treadmill desks.

I did research here in Vancouver,Canada where I live and there is not a lot of places that locally sell it.

There's one that sell this desk, but they were charging a ridiculousamount of money for it.

I actually decided to buy it online.

I bought itdirect through their website, and they had free shipping in the United States and Canada, and they shipped it within I think a few days or somethinglike that.

It was pretty quick.

This one here .

There's different models.

I'll havea link in the description of the model that I have.

This model has thetreadmill and it has the desk and the desk is electronic in terms of the heightadjustment.

For example, I can adjust and bring this desk down.

I can bring itup.

Actually, I paid a little bit extra for this feature, but if you'reusing it for a treadmill desk, and you're using itevery day, you really don't need to spend the extra money for this adjustable feature.

Because for me, I always keep it at the same height.

It would be useful to havethis electronic if you're planning on standing and then adjusting it to sitting, but I have another desk for sitting.

For me, that was something a littlebit unnecessary, it's cool to have.

This one here, it goes anywhere from .

Right now, I'm at one mile per hour, and it can go down to 0.

4 miles per hour.

This is 0.

4 miles per hour right here.

You hardly even notice it.

I can go up to 4 miles per hour, which is actuallylike a little bit of a jog, and I'll show you guys that real quick.

This is 4miles per hour.

Got to start jogging a little bit.

You know what? Therehasn't been much of an adjustment period because like a lot of people .

Oneobjection people have is that, okay, if I get this, it's going to be harder for meto do work.

It's actually the opposite.

What I found is that I've been more productive because when you're actuallymoving and you’re breathing, you're taking in more oxygen.

What happens is it activatesdifferent parts of your brain.

You feel more alert, you feel more focused, you feelmore energetic.

My experience has been I feel more productive as I'mworking.

Right here, at one mile per hour, ifthis is too much for you, you can always go down to 0.

4 miles per hour, and doyour work, and you hardly even notice it.

It's like you're taking a step everysecond or two.

I found that the transition to it was very easy, very fast.

Like I said, it's really radically shifted my energy throughoutthe day.

I find that when you're sitting, that's when you actually get more tired.

I'm not sure if you can relate, but ifyou've ever been sitting when you're working, usually you'll slouch.

It's bad for your posture, you might get tired.

For me, I like to be moving.

If I'm on the phone, I like to be walking and moving because I'll be in abetter state.

The same thing goes when I'm working.

I've beenable to do all types of work just like this, usually again around one mile perhour.

I can do writing, I can do a blog post, I can do my e-mails.

I do alot of Skype calls and webinars and stuff like that nowjust as I'm walking.

The cool thing about this treadmilldesk is it tells me herehow long I've been walking for, the total distance that I've walked, thetotal number of steps, the total number ofcalories that I've burned.

It can store everything with Bluetooth as well.

Ican store everything to my phone.

It's really cool because every day, I'mwalking for several hours.

As a result of that, like I said, I feel better.

Also, my body's been shifting as well because I'm burning so many morecalories.

I'm getting leaner.

I feel like I'm multitasking in away because I'm doing exercise as I'm building my business.

It's a prettycool thing.

It's a pretty cool feeling.

I always believe that the bestinvestments that you can make are obviously always in yourself, butespecially around things that you use every single day.

The bestinvestments that I've ever made in my life have been my water machine, my waterionizer because I drink tons of water every day.

Those things that every littleday, those little things, when they become a part of your life, transforms yourhealth, your energy, everything.

I've got shower filters, a special showerfilter.

You should take a shower every day.

Filters out all the chlorine, all the metals.

Changes the water to be a certain pH, is great forthe skin.

That’s one of the best investments ever made.

This one righthere is probably the top one or two as well because I realize howmuch my time is spent sitting each day.

Now by havingthis, it’s just totally transformed everything for me over the last fewweeks and will continue to transform the rest of my life.

It’s alittle bit expensive, but actually not too bad.

This one I think was 1700 bucks and you can get for .

Ithink you have down to 1500 bucks, but man that’s such a small price to pay forsomething that’s going to make such a huge impact in your life.

For me, it's justa no-brainer to invest in something like this because once you read thisbook especially, I don't know how you can continue sitting once youknow the research and the information andthe effects of it.

Now that I have this and I use it every day, goingback to sitting is like insane.

You know what I mean? If you’ve ever had theexperience where you upgraded your lifestyle to a certain way and then ifyou ever had to go back, it’s never going to happen.

It’s like if you have a cellphone, going back to having no cell phone is just unacceptable because you’renow adapted to all the benefits that having a cell phone provides.

For me it's been an incredible investment.

I love it.

It really shaped mylife and really made a difference.

Yeah, guys, then this is it.

This is thenext level in terms of optimizing your life, and especially if you're in aposition like me.

If you guys want to learn more about it, I’ll have a linkbelow in the description to the specific model that I have.

I’ll have it on the blog post and everything as well, but highly recommend one guys.

Like I said, I use it every day.

It’s part of my life now.

I love it.

It's something that I can't live without.

Check it out guys.

Highly recommend it.

Highly recommend LifeSpan.

They're great.

I’ve done a lot of the research and everything on them.

Really great company.

Great communication.

They've got I think a guarantee and stuff like thatas well.

Yeah, they're great to order from online.

Free delivery.

Everything's been great.
